Three days a week the Itaosy canteen opens its doors. But our work does not stop at the walls of the canteen.
Itaosy Canteen
Since it opened on 20 December 2020, the canteen has welcomed anyone in need three times a week. Children, orphans, young single mothers, the elderly and people with disabilities, without distinction.
The beneficiaries
About 187 meals a day for children, orphans, young single mothers, the elderly and people with disabilities.
The Menu
Rice, meat, legumes and vegetables. Simple, warm, dignified.
The ritual
Hand washing, singing and a shared prayer. At the end the guests put their dishes in the basins.
Hope comes to the door
Not everyone can reach the canteen. This is why volunteers deliver meals to the homes of the elderly and the sick who cannot get around.
The garden, tended by the community, brings fresh vegetables straight to the canteen tables.
We buy our food from local street vendors. Every donation helps twice.
